Free online 2D CAD drawing.
Draw to scale online with free 2D CAD tools for PDF plans and blank drawings. KresCAD lets you add lines, shapes, dimensions and reusable symbols in a desktop browser, then save an editable project and export a PDF without a watermark. No account or software installation required.
Start with a PDF plan or a blank drawing
Open a PDF, JPG or PNG to develop an existing plan, or create a new drawing for an early layout. Choose a standard paper size or enter custom dimensions, then choose how many pages to create. Each page can have its own scale.
How to draw to scale online
Open your drawing
Launch KresCAD on a desktop or laptop. Open your PDF or image, or create a blank sheet. Select the page you want to work on.
Set the drawing scale and units
For an existing plan, choose Measure → Set scale, click the ends of a known dimension and enter its real length. A line labelled 3000 mm represents 3 metres; enter it in the page's selected units. Check another known dimension before drawing.
Draw your changes
Add geometry, notes and dimensions over the plan. Use layers to organise the drawing and reusable blocks for repeated symbols. Keep the existing plan visible so your changes have context.
Save and export
Save project downloads an editable .krescad file. Export PDF produces a watermark-free drawing to review and share. Open the exported PDF to check the result, and keep the project file for later changes.
A printed scale label alone does not establish the scale of a resized or scanned PDF. For calibration checks, mixed-scale drawing sets and measurement problems, follow the PDF plan measurement guide.
2D drawing tools for plan reviews
- Geometry: lines, boxes, circles, polygons and splines for layouts and design options.
- Dimensions and measurements: check distances and enclosed areas after calibrating the page.
- Drawing styles: adjust colours, fills and line weights to distinguish your changes.
- Layers and blocks: organise markups, place repeated symbols and save a reusable block library to your drive.
- PDF annotation: add text, leaders and shapes. See the free PDF markup workflow for drawing review and comments.
Where KresCAD fits
Use it for plan markup, early layouts, design options and scaled drawing reviews. KresCAD is a PDF-based 2D drawing workspace. It does not currently import or export DWG, DXF or BIM models, and it does not replace engineering verification.
Questions about free online CAD
Can I create a drawing without importing a PDF?
Yes. Create a blank drawing, choose its paper size and page count, and set the page scale and units before drawing.
Can I open DWG or DXF files?
No. KresCAD works with PDF plans, JPG and PNG images, and editable KresCAD projects. It does not currently import or export DWG, DXF or BIM models.
Is there a watermark or an account requirement?
No. The drawing tools are free, no account is required, and exported PDFs have no watermark. Save projects and exports to your own drive.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
The precision drawing workspace currently requires a modern desktop or laptop browser. The public guides can be read on mobile.
Keep your editable drawing
Projects and block libraries save to your own drive. A PDF is useful for review and sharing; a .krescad project keeps your work editable. For your first drawing, use the quick-start guide.
