Annotate drawings and communicate changes
Add text, leaders, lines, boxes, circles and polygons over a plan. Use layers to organise changes, and reusable blocks for furniture, trees and other drawing symbols. Import or export individual symbols or your complete block library to your own drive.
Measure a plan after checking its scale
Calibrate a page against a known dimension before using Distance or Area. Check a second dimension and repeat calibration for pages with different scales. This makes the workspace useful for early design studies, drawing reviews and quantity checks. Follow the PDF distance and area measurement guide for calibration steps and common scale problems.
How to mark up a PDF
- Launch KresCAD and choose Open to select your PDF.
- Set the page scale if you need measurements or scaled drawing.
- Choose a drawing or text tool and adjust its properties.
- Save an editable .krescad project, then choose Export PDF.
- Open the downloaded PDF and check the result before sharing it.
Your files stay on your device
Drawing and OCR processing happen in your browser. KresCAD does not upload your drawing to GitHub or a document-processing server. Save projects, PDFs and block libraries to your own drive. Browser recovery copies are convenient, but they are not a substitute for a saved file.
Working with a scanned plan?
Use local PDF OCR to recognise printed text in a box, one page or the whole document. Once scanning finishes, use Find text or Select text, or export a searchable PDF.

PDF markup software for drawing reviews
Use KresCAD to explain a layout change, point to a detail or keep review notes with the plan. Text and leaders identify the change, shapes outline a region, and layers help organise a drawing review. Reusable blocks save time when placing the same symbol more than once.
Save a project, then export the PDF
Keep the editable .krescad project for future changes. The exported PDF is the copy to inspect and share with someone who does not use KresCAD. Download both to your own drive and check the PDF before sending it.
What does “PDF annotator” mean here?
KresCAD adds notes and drawing objects over PDF pages. Its focus is plan markup, scaled 2D drawing and measurement. It does not import or export DWG, DXF or BIM models. Blur and coverups are visual markup, not secure redaction.
